It's Better OFF @ Easter

In 2011 over the 5 day Easter break the University consumed around £17,000 worth of electricity.
In 2012 we are looking to reduce this consumption by 5%, this would make a saving of £1,000
Last Easter we made a saving of 11%, which saw an overall saving of around £2,000 Let's see if we can do his again!
How can we achieve this saving?
Before you leave the office for your Easter Break...
- Shut down all PC's and laptops
- Switch off all monitors
- Switch off all printers & faxes (where possible)
- Switch off all lights
- Switch off all heaters, air con units and extract fans
- Switch off any research equipment that doesn't need to be on
- Set any timers on equipment to stay off over the break
- Unplug any transformers or phone and laptop chargers that are not required.
- Close all windows around the building
Basically switch off anything that doesn't need to be on over the Easter break.
But remember, DO NOT switch off equipment that is in use or anything that may have problems starting back up after the long break. (Check before switching off equipment like fridges, freezers and research equipment)
When you return from the Easter break, remember, your office may be colder than usual, so bring an extra jumper just in case - that way there is no need for that fan heater to be on all day until the building warms through!
