Back Care Management
MSc/Diploma/Certificate MSc: 2-3 years part-time. Diploma: 1-2 years part time. Certificate: approximately 1 year part-time
The programme is based on the curriculum framework for back care advisors. Its objectives are to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the new, multidisciplinary role of effectively managing the problems and risks associated with work-related back injuries, and to establish a qualification that recognises nationally the holders’ abilities.
The programme takes a broad, practical, problem solving approach to the management of back care and load movement, one appropriate to the needs of practitioners. It provides the knowledge and skills to initiate back care programmes and to evaluate the products and services that are on offer. It should be seen as an essential step in the development of the Back Care Advisor/Manual Handling Co-ordinator role.
