Self Service Machines
Over the Summer vacation, the Library has completed a major project to enhance the self service facilities available for users. The five new self service machines (situated on each floor of the Library) allow users to issue and return books themselves, access their Library record and pay fines at the machines instead of having to queue at the Issue Desk. The above video shows how to use the machines to issue and return items.
Users will be expected to make use of these machines to complete all routine transactions. Don't worry though, staff will be around to show you just how easy they are to use. Staff will also be available at the Enquiry Desks on all three levels of the Library if you have a more detailed enquiry about your Library account or if you need any further subject information about your course.
The aim of the machines and the technology behind them is threefold:
- to ensure a quicker turn around of stock- meaning your books will be back on the shelves quicker when they are returned.
- to make any missing items much easier to locate.
- to enable staff resources to be more customer focussed and proactive throughout the Library to ensure excellent customer service
If you have any questions about the self issue machines, please ask one of the staff or email the Customer Services Manager: M.S.Cunningham@lboro.ac.uk
