Staff Shared Filestore

How much do I get?

Each department or research group is automatically allocated a maximum of 500 Megabytes.

Access instructions for IT Services managed computers

Managed Windows 7 Service computers

In Computer or My Computer the department sgared filestore will be called departmentcode-shared-filestore e.g. it-shared-filestore. If you are a member of a research or other group, it will be called groupname-shared-filestore.

Connection instructions for Windows computers not managed by IT Services

  1. Right click on Computer or My Computer.

  2. On the pop up menu, select Map Network Drive...

  3. On the Map Network Drive... screen, in the Drive: Drop down box, select a free drive letter, e.g. X:

    In the Folder: drop down box you need to type:
    \\staff-filestore.lboro.ac.uk\shared\filestorename
    Where filestorename is the name of the shared space you want to connect to. For a department this will be the department code e.g. \\staff-filestore.lboro.ac.uk\shared\it. For a research group this will be the name of the research group e.g. \\staff-filestore.lboro.ac.uk\shared\aghast.
    If you want to ensure that the connection is restored every time you turn your computer on, click the box Reconnect at logon.

  4. Click Finish.

    The "Enter Network Password" window will appear.

  5. Type in lunet\username (where username is your University user name), and your University password.

    Note: if you don't know your University password, it is available from IT Services' Service Desk or PC Clinic, or the Library.

    Select the Remember my password checkbox.

Your X: drive will now be mapped to your Staff Shared Filestore.
