When I do a manual update or look in the update log file I see the following error. "Updates were not applied because packages were not in the repository, VSCANCEU1000, EXTRADAT1000, BOCVSE_1000." What shall I do?
These errors are due to some components not installed as part of Virus Scan Enterprise. McAfee do not consider this as an error and therefore it is expected that this is not going to be removed from the display.

I've installed McAfee Virus Scan 8.8 and when I try to open Microsoft Outlook I get an error: 'The add-in "....\VirusScan\scanemal.dll" could not be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook.' What can I do?
When this occurs you need to delete EXTEND.DAT file while Microsoft Outlook is closed. This will force Outlook to create a new EXTEND.DAT file next time it is launched.
The default location for EXTEND.DAT file is: C:\Documents and Settings\user account\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

With UAC on some systems I see the error message in the autoupdate window. "Checking update packages from repository NAIHttp. Could not write to INI file. Could not write to INI file" What causes this error message?
Follow these steps:
-
A file lock could be the problem. Re-start the system and try again.
-
You need to check the rights to the file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\Common Framework\updatehistory.ini - set full control to everyone then retry to update.
-
Apply the latest SuperDat and restart the system.
-
Automatic updates should continue as normal from this point.
-
If that doesn't work you can disable UAC which seems to work in all cases
