About VirusScan Enterprise.

To install the Anti Virus Software (Macintosh):

Please note if you are intending to install and use Maple or PASW / SPSS, we recommend that you do not install Sophos. IT Services are working with Sophos to resolve a known conflict, in the meantime there are other Mac antivirus programs available that work with PASW and Maple. For example, the free program ClamXAV http://www.clamxav.com/.

  1. If you already have Sophos, follow the Uninstall Sophos instructions (you will need your University username and password) at https://internal.lboro.ac.uk/restricted/cc/AntiVirus/sophos-uninstall.html.

  2. Follow the Sophos installation instructions (you will need your University username and password) at https://internal.lboro.ac.uk/restricted/cc/AntiVirus/sophos-install.html.

Note: The instructions are located on the Intranet as the Sophos IDE files credentials are located in the document.

If you require any technical assistance after installation, please contact Information Technology Service Desk.

Additional Information

Note: We have standardised on one installer for computers on and off campus, therefore there is no longer a need to update two versions of software.

If you require any technical assistance after installation, please view the F.A.Q. web page at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/security/naifaq.html for common solutions, visit the PC Clinic (see www.lboro.ac.uk/it/pcclinic/), or contact our Service Desk  IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk or telephone 01509 222333.
