Remote Working Portal - How to set up using Remote Desktop
Initial Step 1 - find the I.P. Address
From the Start menu select Run. In the Run dialogue type cmd and press ENTER.
Type ipconfig.

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : lboro.ac.uk
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 131.231.185.183
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 131.231.184.1
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : lboro.ac.uk
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 131.231.82.28
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.248.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 131.231.80.1
Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Find the I.P. Address for the Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection (not the Wireless nor the Bluetooth if present).
Type exit.
Initial Step 2 - Allow Remote Desktop Access
If you have an administrator account on the computer, you can do this yourself. Otherwise you will need help from your IT Support Staff.

Log on as Administrator.

On the desktop right-click My Computer and select Properties.

Select the Remote tab.

Ensure that Allow users to connect remotely to this computer is selected.

Click on Select Remote Users... button.

Add the user to the Remote Users group.

Click OK.

Click OK.
