Off-campus Access
SSH Sharing Setup Instructions
Users who wish to access machines via SSH (Secure Shell) will need to ensure that the Mac on campus has the requisite Sharing options available for SSH connections, and these connections should be restricted to specific users on the host machine for security purposes.
Instructions

Open the System Preferences and, under Internet & Network, select Sharing.

Choose Remote Login; enable Remote Login with the check box.

Select Only These Users and click the plus button to add a user from users and groups:

Check that Remote Login is On and that a valid address to connect to is supplied, the SSH connection can be made with the following user@DNS entry or IP address configuration.
(N.B. if the machine's IP address is supplied by DHCP then it is advisable to use the DNS address as this should remain the same.)
