Terms of Reference

To keep under review the University's IT strategy and its implementation, in light of the University's overall Strategic Plan.

To act as a channel of communication and forum for discussion between IT Services and users of its services, via members representing various groups.

To help the Director of IT identify priorities and develop strategy.

To develop and review institutional policies relevant to the use of IT, submitting these to relevant bodies for approval as necessary.

To receive for information progress reports from steering or advisory groups for major change projects covered by OPS Steering Group.

To receive and discuss reports from IT Services on services and projects not covered by OPS Steering Group.

To receive and discuss reports on IT projects, services and systems within Faculties and Support Services not covered by OPS Steering group.

To identify and address issues which run across University IT projects, services, and systems and are falling in the gaps between the governance structures.

To maintain shared awareness of externally funded IT-related projects and bids (e.g. various JISC initiatives) within the University.

When requested by OPS, to consider and comment on cases for major IT projects brought forward under the project approval procedure.

To comment on IT Services' Service Catalogue and review the services.

To receive annual reports from IT Services, including financial summary.

To refer upwards to ELT and OPS any items requiring their attention.
Membership
-
The Chair is A Dean, to be appointed by the Provost.

Chief Operating Officer.
-
Two representatives from each of the three Faculties, to be nominated by the Dean, typically an academic and the Faculty IT Co-ordinator.

One or two members of support services.
-
One senior member of administrative staff based in an academic department, school, or faculty.

One student representative appointed by Loughborough Students' Union

Director of Information Technology.

By invitation:

Representatives of user groups (usually their Chair)

Representatives of Projects' governance (e.g. Chairs of Steering or Advisory Group).

Secretary – an Assistant Director in IT Services

Members of IT Services Leadership Team as required occasionally for relevant items.
