Background
Undergraduate degree in Human Biology (2000) (Loughborough), followed by a PhD (2004) (Loughborough). Research Associate and then Research Fellow at Loughborough University (2004-2006). Appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Human Sciences in January 2007.
Research Interests
Physical activity and public health; objective assessment of physical activity in adults; walking; physical activity promotion; relationship between physical activity and diet, sleep and socio-economic status.
Current research
The assessment of pedometer-determined activity levels, and patterns, in free-living UK adults. This project is investigating activity patterns over different days of the week, differences in activity levels between different BMI groups, seasonal differences in activity, the effect of wearing pedometers on activity levels and relationships between steps/day and body composition, SES and occupation
