Scientists often find themselves in managerial positions. This programme is designed for the physicist with an interest in the process of management. Graduates from the programme will have obtained a broad understanding of the physical science which underlies much of industry, together with an understanding of the way that companies work and familiarity with the process and functions of management. The programme covers the core of the BSc Physics programme and provides an introduction to the main management functions together with the opportunity to study in depth chosen aspects of both disciplines.

At the end of the second year students can choose to take a sandwich year of employment in industry or a year of study abroad or proceed directly to the third year.

The provisional content of the programme is given below, as taken by students in 2009–10.Students take modules of total weight 60 credits each semester. All modules have a weight of 10 credits unless a larger number is given. Modules listed in italics are optional; not all options will run in any one year and the programme content may vary from year to year. For full details of requirements see current Programme Regulations (PDF).

The programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics.
