The Physics six aside football team for 2010 got off to a great start today in the first match of the University six aside competition. In freezing cold conditions the team began the match in fine style, against a depleted opposition, who were a man short.
Fisica made use of the extra space with some controlled football and took an early lead when Toby Maw fired in a crisp shot from the edge of the box. Fisica applied lots of pressure and scored further goals from Tom Varley, Ato, and one more from Maw to have a well deserved 4-0 lead at half time. Feeling sorry for a rapidly tiring opposition Richard Wilson joined their team for the second half to even things up somewhat. Subs rolled on and off during the game which enabled Fisica to keep up the momentum and score some impressive goals in the second half. Doug the Dynamo Green made a late appearance which pepped up the Fisica play with his industrious endeavour. Further goals came from Maw (1), Ato (2),Tom Hewett (2), and Var;ey(1) to finish the game 10-0 to Fisica.Prof Feo Kusmartsev out of the game through injury was very pleased with the teams performance, but did say that tougher games would come soon.
