Mapping Magnetic Structure and Disorder in Magnetic Nanostructures

S Langridge

ISIS, Rutherford Appleton Lab

Wednesday, 18 Feb 2004, 14.00, W0.03

Magnetic nanostructures exhibit many useful properties that depend critically on the nature of their interfaces and the in-plane ordering. However, such buried interfaces are not readily accessible experimentally. In this talk we shall discuss such magnetic systems through a characterisation of their structural and magnetic ordering, as studied by neutron and resonant x-ray reflectivity. Recent examples in exchange biased and patterned magnetic structures will be presented.
