LEVELS

Level 1

For complete beginners who have no previous knowledge of the language. The aim is to introduce students to basic vocabulary and grammar and equip participants with ‘survival skills’. Fast Track classes in French and Spanish will take learners through the different stages at a quicker pace and include more grammar work. Students will be expected to work in their own time.

Level 2

For those who have studied the language for a year recently or who feel they already have a basic knowledge through study in the past. The aim is to ‘refresh’ existing knowledge and improve grammar and conversational skills.

Level 3A

For those who have done levels 1 & 2; also for students with basic
GCSE or very rusty O Level, or who can "get by" reasonably well and who wish to improve their fluency.

Level 3B
For those who already have a good grasp of the language (good GCSE / 2 - 3 years study) and who are well motivated and prepared to work in their own time to consolidate their knowledge and progress to advanced language work.

Level 4A/B
Level 4 is for those who have studied the language for 3 - 4 years or who feel they already have a fairly good level through study in the past. Work is of approximately ‘A’ level standard and will equip participants with more sophisticated conversational skills in the language plus a knowledge of the culture of the country (or countries) where the language is spoken. Level 4B French/Spanish is intended for confident students who are ready to tackle more complex structures and challenging topics.

Loughborough University Students: £51.50 for 20 weeks, payable upon registration
Others: £110 for 20 weeks, payable upon registration

Please note that some classes are NOT scheduled for the full 2 hours although the same fees still apply. This is in order to be able to offer classes for the less popular languages at higher levels. Group sizes for these classes will tend to be smaller, so students receive more personal attention.

NB PLEASE NOTE THAT COURSE FEES CANNOT BE REFUNDED AFTER A COURSE HAS STARTED.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

Registration and payment is through the Loughborough University Online Store:

http://store.lboro.ac.uk

The first time you use the Online Store, you will be asked to set up an account. Once this has been done you will be able to use the secure site to register and pay for courses.

If you are unsure as to which level would best suit you, please get in touch and ask for advice beforehand.

We shall continue to take registrations until classes are full.

NB Places are limited, and demand (especially for Level 1 classes) is high, so early registration is advised.
