Biography

Deborah joined the department in October 2010 to work on her doctoral research. How do domestic and supranational stakeholders involved in statistics harmonisation formally and informally impact on this ongoing process? Led by this question, she is firstly interested in mapping the European Statistical System (ESS). Taking on a comparative approach, she subsequently explores these findings within the cases of socio-economic and migration flow statistics in selected member states of the European Union (EU).

Deborah completed her undergraduate degree in “Staatswissenschaften” (major in law, minor in social sciences) at the University of Erfurt in 2007, followed by an Erasmus exchange at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Lyon. She earned her MA in European Studies at Maastricht University in 2009 and worked as research assistant for the EUDO-Citizenship Project from April 2009 to July 2010. Her research interests encompass governance - particularly informal governance - within the EU’s statistical domain, EU social policy, EU migration policy, and Europeanisation."
