Department’s Winning Run Continues with 17th Salters’ Graduate Prize
April 2011
Ben Demicol, a final year MEng student in the Department, has been awarded a £1000 Salters’ Graduate Prize for 2011. Only 5 are awarded each year to UK Chemical Engineering students by the Salters’ Institute of Industrial Chemistry.
The judging criteria include intellectual ability, initiative, effective communication, ability to enlist others’ co-operation and a concern for the future of the Chemical Industry.
Ben adds this to his Royal Academy of Engineering Leadership Advanced Award that he won two years ago. He used this to fund extracurricular language courses whilst undertaking his Part C Professional Development Project at the University of Valencia in Spain. Ben was quickly snapped up for a graduate job by BP with whom he had a very successful placement year.
